  • Classic Dr. Monseth . . .

"Today is a great day for the race!... The human race!.. Okay, okay.."

    I'm having a good Sunday..

I woke up earlier than normal, walked into the laundry room/kitchen... found some Mango Green Tea free for the taking, sat down with my blanket before getting ready to go to church and was able to spend a little time with my friend, Jesus.  There are just a handful of people that didn't go home for the long Presidents Day weekend or aren't on Women's Chorale choir tour so it's really quiet. I went to church by myself and sat by semi-strangers, listened to a challenging sermon, came back to the dorms and have been able to play on Photoshop and read my book...

Sometimes it's nice to just have a quiet day by yourself.

But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,  even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace have ye been saved), and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus:  that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus:  for by grace have ye been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, that no man should glory.
    Ephesians 2:4-9

  • I wish I had my camera so that I could post pictures of this last weekend! it was so fun! I'll have to add them later when I have more time.
I had a roommate day yesterday with my roommates (obviously) and it was really great. We went to the Mall of America and walked around, tried on fun dresses and ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp's -- which is really tasty! I don't like shrimp however, but that was something I didn't mention to the waiter! Seriously.. there were only about three things that weren't shrimp on that menu! We also got our caricatures drawn, which I had never done before. We decided that on roommate dates we have to something at least one of us has never done before... getting our caricatures drawn was something all three of us had never done before.. so that was fun! We look really goofy, hopefully I'll be able to post that too!

Going home next weekend with my gospel team and a couple other ones to sing at my home church! It's going to be great! One of my team members is going to be in Canada taking stats for the basketball team, but she'll be able to meet us.. so that's good. One problem though.. she was the only one who had taken the test that's mandatory to drive one of the school's vans. SO.. I, being the leader, took the test on friday... thankfully I passed!!! So now I can drive hoooome... in a van.. cool.

My face has gone back to its original size, which is fabulous.. and now I can chew again!! I really missed a lot of food.. a lot! It's good to be back in foodland!

Anyway... Patriots lost...I was sad... *sniff* But the party was still fun! Wow... good times. Oh yeah, I'll have to post pictures from that too... grr.. I have a lot of picture uploading to do!! Gotta run! Morning class comes early, early tomorrow!! I LOVE spring semester classes.. my four favorite teachers! ONLY! It's great! Ack.. internet's shutting down.... *post*

  • Alternative Reasons

Some could say that I'm writing in this because it's long overdue, some could say that I'm writing in this because I was asked to, some could say that I'm writing in this blog because I miss it... but I know the real reason... I'm bored.

You see, yesterday I came back home for a long weekend. This morning, I visitied the clinic and... got my wisdom teeth pullled!! Woohoo! It was really not as scary as I was imagining it. What made me the most calm is that I knew I wouldn't have to do anything for it. I just had to trust them, and they looked like they knew what they were doing. After finishing up finals for the J-term, it was a nice change not to have to worry about doing something right, or remembering anything. I just had to lie there. .. and sleep. Which I didn't mind because I was tired. Anyway

I got to see my X-ray... and I had all four of my wisdom teeth. The top two weren't a huge problem, but the bottom two were almost completely horizontal. It was crazy looking!

Oh yeah, this is me with my chipmunk face. I purposely didn't post a picture of how I look with two ice packs wrapped to my head with an ace bandage. Even you, dear Xanga friends, don't need to see that!! I've been told the ice packs look like huge batteries.. So that must mean that I'm kin to the Energizer Bunny. You may call me the Energetic Chipmunk. I wouldn't recommend using that as a new brand of batteries though... because if my ice packs are like the batteries.. you're going to need to change them often.

My first three thoughts when I woke up were:

    1. That was a great nap! I feel so rested!
    2. Am I done? (Then I felt the gauze with my tongue and knew that I was)
    3. It's coold

I asked the nurse if I had said anything crazy, stupid, or otherwise and she told me I hadn't. I was disappointed because that means no cool stories. I was told by a couple friends (you know who you are!) to count down from 10 and see if I could make it all the way to 1 before I was knocked out. I made it down from 10 twice and started on the third before I decided I was done counting and wanted to just close my eyes and go to sleep. I will admit however that I was counting faster than the normal second to be able to make it all the way to 1. *wry smile*

So now I'm strictly on liquids until supper where I'll feast on Jello, scrambled eggs and hot cereal. Excuse me.. I'm need to go refill my beverage... oh yeah, I forgot. That's what younger siblings are for... *evil laugh*

  • In Full Swing

Time is flying by, and I can't believe it's already October!
School is going great! I'm loving the classes! A lot. Between work and school.. there isn't a huge amount of down time.. but the weekends are mostly free since I try to get most of my homework done on weeknights. I'm liking Bible Doctrine possibly the most right now. I'm learning things that I've wanted to know, and things that I'd never thought of before. It's great. I love learning.

I spent the morning of my first birthday away from home looking for my cell phone.. I had walked to a highschool football game on Friday night.. and somehow.. between walking from the school and sitting down on the bleachers, my cell phone fell out of my purse or was taken.. because.. I didn't have it two minutes after sitting down. I went back the next morning when it wasn't dark to retrace my steps.. but I couldn't find it. I was bummed. I'd only had that cell phone for only a few weeks. *sniff* Later we found out that someone had it .. because.. my dad could track online that there was texting going on from my phone. ack!! We deactivated the phone so that no one could use minutes or text from it. My dad activated one of our old cell phones and sent it down to school for me. I didn't realize how much I depended on my phone to live life... I didn't have my clock, I couldn't find out where to meet people, I couldn't get any birthday calls. I was a sad day in Cassie-ville. Thankfully, life wasn't all that sad.. My roommates bought me cake and flowers and put up balloons! It was so sweet of them! I had a great time with a bunch of girls the night of my birthday watching movies too..

Anyway... the computers get shut off at midnight.. which is now.. gotta run!!

  • It is I who has missed out..

Yes. For me, the Xanganite who hasn't posted forever and a day... has really missed it. I've tried keeping up with others' posts and have even left comments from time to time. But my voice has been lost for too long now, and I am determined to reclaim it.

I shall now hitherto forget the sentimentality of the previous paragraph and resume my normal intelligent ( )lingo.

    Hey Everyone!

Much has happened since the last post.

Most exciting at the moment is the final preparations before heading to AFLBS in September. I've been doing a lot of job searching and applying recently. I might even be taking a trip to the cities here in the near future to get more options than the world wide web can offer me. Also, trying to do a lot of strategic budgeting has taken up lots of my time.

I started making a list a couple of days ago of the things that I needed to remember to bring and/or GET and bring. I got my registration packet in the mail about a week ago, so now I can register for all my classes! It's feeling pretty real now. Instead of 'I'm going to be studying the Bible!!' it's now 'I'm going to be studying, Genesis and Bible Doctrine, etc.!'

I thought I'd be finding out in the mail today which room I was in and who I was rooming with, but it didn't come. So.. tomorrow I'm hopin' it'll come. Yay! It's such an exciting time for me!

I found I have an addiction. Yes. Cutting my hair. It is altogether too much fun. Rachel, my talented cohort, is way too obliging. Love ya Rach!! Thanks!
